That's no different for New Oxford's own Thomas Halk who set to put on the Florida Gators uniform and represent his community tomorrow night in the Final Four. News's Jacob Paul has Thomas's unlikely journey to Gainesville thanks to the two that know him best. What was once *** dream. It is now *** reality for Thomas Halk. It's been *** wild ride with how he, you know, ended up with as *** Gator fan and where he's at now. The new Oxford native is *** key contributor on the Florida men's basketball team. This team's been unbelievable to watch how they play together and, and, you know, and have Tommy, you know, be able to, to, to be *** part of it's been been great. How did that work? Being from New Oxford, uh, obviously *** long way from Gainesville, Florida, but how did that work of him, you know, rooting for the Gators growing up? Not well when you're in *** Penn State. But instead of rooting for the blue and white, they are now cheering on the blue and orange, and so is the majority of the community. I teach in the, um, Kanaga Valley School District in the elementary schools. My little ones that'll come to school and they'll talk about the games, and you know, that they, they sat and watched. Today, you know, they had *** district-wide school spirit day and, you know, then we leave school and there's an ice cream flavor at the ice cream shop. The way that *** small town rallies around one of their It's just, I tears all the time. One of their own who is setting an example. When, you know, you're given gifts like the ability that, you know, you have to be on the stage and to do this, you know, you, you need to use those gifts that God gave you in *** positive way and, and be *** role model for others. And now that Thomas has achieved *** lifelong goal, he said it. At the beginning of last year, you know, I'm 18 and I get to pick *** new dream because I'm, I'm living mine.
